A thirty-year old new mom who can only paint in the wee hours of the morning and write when everyone in her busy household has settled in, won in the recent Strathmore's Artist Tradind Cards and Art Cards Editions and Originals (Strathmore ATC@ACEO).

The news, that she is the Winner of the 2008 International ACEO Competition, came two days right after Mother's Day which according to Sherie is another achievement and another blessing for her.

Sherie is a Filipino artist residing in Tinley Park, Illinois. Aside from painting, she also writes  inspirational essays and poetries in her art blog  Morning Artist. You may visit her gallery of paintings at http://sheriesloane.com/Gallery.html where her works, just as her life, are truly amazing and inspiring.

She is the founder of KIDS ART of PEACE whose mission is to promote arts to children around the world while advocating peace.According to her" God has blessed me with wonderful talents and sharing these gifts to children and making their lives better is a great blessing".(http://www.sheriesloane.com/artforpeace.html)

In 2006, Sheries was the only Filipino  artist who has exhibited at the Prairie Winds Art Center's 7th Annual Juried Miniature Art Show in New England, and the only artist to win three Top State Awards in PaintAmerica National Juried Art Contest.

With so much awards and recognitions abroad, Sherie does not forget his fellow Filipino artists. She also established a Philippines WaterColor Society to help promote Philippines arts and her fellow artists.

Let's be proud of her, a truly Filipina who has remained a person of virtue and humility. Visit her blog and accompany her everyday as she do her visual arts yoga at http://morningartist.blogspot.com/

Maraming Salamat Po.

I dedicate all these wonderful blessings to all Filipinos who are doing their part, however little it may be, to give pride to our country.

I wish PinayMom all the best.  This is such a great idea and community for all Filipino moms like us.

Your support are very much appreciated.  I invite all the moms here in Chicago to attend the Passport to the World: Philippines event at the Chicago Children's Museum on June 12-15, 2008.

I would be very happy to meet you in person on June 14 during my painting demo at 12:15 pm.

See you there!  Dont forget to bring the kids.

Salamat po,
Sherie Sloane

PS. Thanks Erica for taking time to write this article.  You are awesome.
