Facebook and The Real You

Funny pictures about real profile are circulating in Facebook. They may be true or perhaps “Photoshopped” by some talented designer who has all the time in the world to create this work of art to entertain us. Don’t quote me on this but I just saw these pictures on my friend’s link status.

I admit that I’ve found the pictures funny and sometimes hilarious too. See the samples here:

Male - funny facebook profile

Female - facebook profile picture

The question that is really bothering me is how true are the Facebook member’s profile. I guess our friend’s profile are absolutely for real but what about other people who are completely strangers to you but wanted to be your friend. How do you deal with them?

Prior to Facebook era and even before any social networking site were developed, there were already a lot of sites in the internet where you can meet and be friends with somebody who is totally stranger to you. Yahoo Messenger, ICQ and MSN are just some of the popular tools for online chatting. Of course there are also forums, and specific sites to meet the boy or the girl of your dream such as singles chat and other match making site out there. I even saw some sites that cater to divorce people and widows as well. Some are free Continue reading

Work From Home …Yeah!

Yesterday was a holiday here in the Philippines because it was the Feast of Sacrifice. Tomorrow, Wednesday until Friday, I’ll be working from home. So officially, I went to our office only today. That’s 1 out 5 days of work.

On Fridays, Me and my husband are not oblige to report to our office. We have an option to work from home on this day and,  in reality it gives us additional time with our kids as well.

Since I need to test one of our software product using a broadband satellite equipment tomorrow and on Thursday, I was allowed to work from home. The satellite needs an open clear skies so it can communicate to another satellite. I hope it won’t rain tomorrow so I can do the testing.

work-from-home-mom-asianWorking from home, with my own prescribed time is actually one of the reasons I love my job. I can even play badminton or jog in the morning before reporting remotely and do my job.

I was talking again to my husband this evening if he wants to find another job abroad or from another company but he told me he will only do that if the company will give him (and me) the same benefits of working from home and no restrictive of working time. My husband is a fan of quality results than working 8 hours or more. He’s actually trying the formula written in the book, 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferris. Tim believes in the concept of getting more for less and he’s actually one of the start-up angel investor of the popular networking tool, no less than Twitter. If you want to know more about Tim Ferriss, just Google his name and see how popular he is.

Perhaps my husband and I cannot attain yet the 4-Hour workweek in the near future but we are working toward it.  We don’t mind if we can’t do it yet, but the most important thing is we have time for each other and with our kids too.

Seeing Again Your Relatives at “Undas”

To be honest, our family don’t celebrate Halloween but this doesn’t mean that we don’t visit our relatives during these long vacation holidays. Actually this is one of the holidays that we are looking forward to because it gives us the opportunity to travel for a longer time.

Just like the holidays, we all look forward to reunions during Nov. 1 and 2. Wherein, we get to taste real Filipino dishes like “sapin-sapin,” “biko,”  and “puto,” lemon bisquits, “suman” and a lot more foods that are not only sweet but are every Pinoy’s favorite to eat during these times. If they are not cooked by grandmothers, our aunts or moms of course would love to sample their own Filipino style recipes of these goodies. Else, you can buy these from baking stores like Continue reading

Do You Buy and Sell Online?

Do you buy and sell online?

If you are the Buyer, how can you guarantee that the seller is not a scammer?

And if you are the Seller, how do you trust your buyers if they are legitimate?

I used to sell some second hand items online. I even met with the potential buyers (with my hubby as my bodyguard, obviously for security reason).  And of course, I even bought items online mostly from local sellers so I can meet them personally too.

Buying and Selling Online

And now, my husband is urging me once again to do business online. It’s more of a buy and sell. He wants me to buy items either locally and from abroad,  add a profit margin of 20-30 percent then sell the items again online. He told me that I can do it even if I have a full-time job. He even  volunteering himself to be the messenger of my business, if time won’t permit me to meet with the sellers/buyers.

What bothering me is,  what’s the best business credit cards that I need to use so I can order online specially from international sellers? Continue reading
