If you are preparing for a special event or even just everyday life you may have considered eyelash extensions or strip lashes in the past. There are some people that prefer the idea of eyelash extensions over strip lashes also known as false eyelashes and it’s important to understand the difference, especially if you are planning on going to a lash studio for lash extensions.
Here are some of the differences between the two and some of the pros and cons of each:
Lash extensions:
Lash extensions are eyelash extensions that are applied to each individual lash. They can take more time and they can be a bit more expensive to upkeep. They require a professionally trained and licensed lash artist to apply them. It is not recommended that you do this yourself!
Pros: These lash extensions have a much more natural appearance! They also require less upkeep when it comes to getting your lashes looking more full on a daily basis because they are glued directly to your lashes. They last much longer than traditional Lash strips as well.
Cons: The downside to these lashes is that they can be much more expensive to upkeep and they also require a salon expert to apply. They’re fairly time-consuming to put on and you also need to stay away from oil-based cleaners as these can break down the glue for the lashes.
False eyelashes:
False eyelashes are available in strips and they’re extremely affordable. They are fairly easy to bond them yourself to your real lashes. They don’t look as natural as eyelash extensions but they can be much less expensive and less time-consuming.
Pros: This is one of the most affordable ways that you can extend the length of your eyelashes. You can often find these for a reasonable price, but can only apply them for one-time use. The strip lashes can also be quite easy to remove depending on the glue formula that you go with. These are a low maintenance solution that can also be completely reusable and are available in a wide range of lash styles.
Cons: The only problem with strip lashes is that they can often come with irritation. Because the glue needs to be stronger to apply the whole lash strip, this can sometimes cause people to break out. They also pull off your natural lashes when you remove them due to the strong adhesive needed. It’s also common for them to fall off and it’s very easy to start misplacing them if you don’t set them down in a carrying case.
Consider the difference between these two eyelash types when you are deciding on what might be the right option for your needs.
